Every weekend in Hyderabad, we plan to do something that doesn’t involve screens or shopping, but the soaring temperatures and scorching heat hold us back. With the temperatures reaching tolerable levels in the city, we’ve explored a few more parks around town.
Here’s a previous article I wrote about Parks in Hyderabad and Safe Spaces for Kids in Hyderabad. If you’re looking for more hobbies, check out my list of Hobbies and Activities in Hyderabad.
Lumbini Park
Lumbini Park offers a delightful experience around the Hussain Sagar Lake if the weather is good. It has various attractions, such as a water feature and a revolving tower. The Tower ride is a revolving seat that goes around a tower as it rises higher. The ride requires a minimum of four people at ₹60 each and provides a fantastic view of the city, particularly the new Secretariat and the Birla Mandir.
You can also go boating in the lake. The jetty has a ticket counter where you can choose the kind of ride you want. The motorboat is fast and fun but only takes four people. The ferry ride needs enough passengers, and you’ll need to wait in line if there are too many, but it is the only one that allows you to get down at the Buddha statue island. You can grab some selfies here and head back to the park for a picnic.
If you’re there in the evening after dark, you can see the musical fountains and light show.

Entry fee & Parking
The Park is open from 9 am to 9 pm. Entry fees are ₹20, and the parking complex is next door. You’ll need to pay separately for the revolving tower ride and boating.
Gandipet Park
On the banks of ̉Osman Sagar, this park is great to visit just after the monsoon when the water levels are higher in the lake. The area is nice for a walk and provides plenty of space for kids to run around. There is a walking track with benches to rest on, plenty of trees to give you shade, and a beautiful view of the lake, especially at sunset. Kids can run around but there’s no designated play area.

Entry fee & Parking
The park is open from 7 am to 7:30 pm. The entry fee is ₹50 for adults and ₹20 for children up to age 10, with ample parking space available outside.
Durgam Cheruvu Boating and Park
Known by old-timers as the secret lake, it is now known for the suspension bridge that connects Hitech City to Jubilee Hills. The park is a long walking lane around the Durgam Cheruvu Lake with play areas for kids and beautiful sculptures dotting the way. If you live nearby, you can get your 10,000 steps easily with the refreshing breeze from the lake to keep you cool as you stroll around the promenade.
The entry gate is on the main road, but it can be accessed from other points on the track. The boating jetty is a little further away from the main road and also has access to the park when it’s open. The ferry is for larger groups and is slower, the paddle boat is for four people who have the energy, and the motorboat is fast. It is a short trip on the motorboat for Rs.500, and the driver tries to make it exciting by rocking the boat. If you’re the type to get queasy, warn the driver beforehand to keep your trip smooth. If you go in the evenings, you can see the sunset and the bridge lit up in colourful lights set against the dark skies.

Entry fee & Parking
The park opens from 5 am to 10 am and again in the evening from 4 to 6 pm. Boating is available from 10 am to 9 pm. Parking is available next to the main gate of the Park opposite the Inorbit Mall road. Parking at the boating jetty is limited as it is a residential area.
