low fat Strawberry and cream recipe high protein recipe

It is strawberry season in India right now. Winter in most of the country sees temperatures of Europe’s summer, just the right time for the berries to bloom. We look forward to strawberries in December and January, then mangos in the summer. The taste of in-season fruits and veggies is hard to beat. Apart from the deliciousness factor, in-season produce ensures your carbon footprint is lower, and you benefit from better taste and nutrition.

This quick and easy dessert is a low cal, high protein option for your sugar cravings. It also makes for a healthy breakfast or snack if you add in some homemade granola and chia seeds. There are multiple ways to change it up.

You need:

  • ½ cup mascarpone cheese
  • ½ cup Greek yogurt
  • Sweetener of choice
  • Chopped berries

Mix the ingredients well to remove lumps before adding the fruit.

Substitutes:

  • Mascarpone cheese can be substituted with Skyr.
  • Use cream cheese instead of Greek yogurt for a rich dessert, topped with cookie crumbs.
  • Use monk fruit sugar, beet sugar, or honey to sweeten it up.
  • Add chia seeds for extra fibre.
  • Add some homemade granola for a hearty snack or breakfast.
  • Make it vegan by using plant-based yogurt and cheese.
  • Berries go well with this, but it can also be used to top fruit crumble pies.

Bon Appetit!
